What is COOKIES? The Cookie Fam by Berner’s Household Strain

Berner, also known as Gilbert A. Milam, Jr. is a 38 year-old rapper and cannabis strain developer. Today, you can find his work alongside some of the greatest artists, growers and cannabis connoisseurs of all time including Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg. If you did not already know this Berner is also a Bay Area native with an impressive net worth. At 13 Berner moved to Arizona where his Dad opened a Mexican restaurant with aspirations of becoming a financial powerhouse and supporting his family. This entrepreneurial spirit took the strain developer far not only in cannabis but also in rap.

Later in life Berner launched an independent rap mixtape called “Dirty Sneakers,” that started his path towards a legitimate music career. His first association with “Tha Jacka,” is a rap collaboration that goes down in history. Berner can also be seen working on albums with Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg and B-Real of Cypress Hill. In addition, Berner has flexed serious muscle in the cannabis industry as a businessman. Focusing on building a business in different areas of the industry including branding, cultivation and fashion, Berner’s presence is clearly smokin’.

Got Girl Scout Cookies by Cookie Fam?

If you didn’t already know, Girl Scouts selling cookies outside of the grocery store are not associated with Berner the rapper. In fact, the Girl Scout Cookies you can see at the Cannabis Cup winning awards are actually a hybrid strain of Berner’s own creation. The blend of OG Kush and Durban Poison is in NO WAY associated with Girl Scouts or their cookies. Also known as Berner’s Cookies after the man himself, his brand Cookies met the mainstream with the Cookie Family collective. Crossing two of the most popular strains, this underground family has elevated the entire weed game with this exclusive household strain.

The Bay Area artist credits the success of launching the Cookies brand in 2012 with putting the product in the hands of Wiz Khalifa. Today, the strain is a smoker’s delight at COOKIES dispensary, at home and on-the-go. You can also see that the Cookies brand effortlessly developed streetwear clothing that includes apparel and accessories for men and women.

As part of Berner’s takeover of the cannabis industry, Cookies dispensaries can be seen all over America in places like San Diego, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and Baltimore as well as in Detroit. Berner is becoming a global figure as an entrepreneur along the likes of Willie Nelson, Breal of Cypress Hill and Yung LB from Runtz.

A Breakdown of Cookies the Strain

Cookies is a crossbreed strain with an average of 25% to 28%THC with an ultra-low 1% CBD/CBN content. That is not the only reason Cookies is a household brand name though. Puffing on GSC’s delivers one of the most satisfying highs with an enticing flavor and aroma that draws you in immediately after the first hit. Girl Scout Cookies is known to rocket you into a galaxy of euphoria leaving you with a body high that tingles in all the right places. The experience of riding waves of happiness, creativity and the giggles makes Girl Scout Cookies a leading strain among artists and novice smokers alike.

The growing techniques for Girl Scout Cookies vary but on Berners Cookie Fam Farm the soil and hydro systems both cycle on a timeframe of about 10 weeks to flower. Several phenotypes of this famous cannabis strain include Thin Mint and Platinum Cookies. Girl Scout Cookies is an indica dominant hybrid strain of OG Kush and F1 Durban Poison that also includes Cherry Pie (another strain by Berner). The Bay area rapper developed this strain with a bright purple color, twisting greenery and firey orange hairs. Check out their online store, at Cookiesmelrose.com – now with online ordering available for local residents.

What is Berners Net Worth?

It is estimated that Berner’s music skills and cannabis talents have made him alot of money. In 2014, Cookies in San Francisco reached a milestone of over 60,000 units sold and blew Cookies up into a franchise. It is estimated that his current net worth is 30 million dollars as the founder and CEO of Cookies. His high-ranking position did not come without a cost of course and if you listen to his music, Berner will tell you himself about the hard work and dedication it took to get where he is today. Recently, Cookies partnered with Grandiflora Genetics, an Oakland company founded by Mark McCafferty. Innovating new strains like Oakland Purp, High Tech and Melonatta, The Cookies and Grandiflora collaboration is an exciting one that will push the entire industry forward and thrill smokers.

How Can I Get in The Weed Game?

You may not possess the same rap, cannabis or entrepreneurial skills as this Bay area resident. The signature of Berner’s success is partially because he knows how to invest in cannabis. If you want to cash in on the green you may not have skills like Berner but you can make strategic investments in cannabis stocks. Cookies is a globally recognized brand with more potential growth in its future.

A video obtained on social media filmed by Instagram handle @greencountryrebellion, shows Berner’s Cookies Cannabis Store on Melrose Avenue (@cookies.hollywood) being looted, broken into, the inventory stolen, and heavy property damage being inflicted from the looters.

This act wasn’t aimed at a another Target, this time it was a locally owned and highly favored cannabis company with proud patrons, and a success story that California residents celibrate and support intimately.

The loyalty and respect the brand has in our community is impressive. It leaves us with plenty of uncertainty about any of our local residents starting the initial looting of the store.

There is a theories of paid government activists acting on orders from the left and the right, orders that are unlawful.

These paid government activists are American people that are paid as provocateur-agents, hired and paid by Uncle Sam himself. These same provocateur-agents are then injected into our rallys, and they cause anarchy to our streets and stores and we take the hit for it while they continue to stir things up for the worst.

With the American people protesting and having a unified approach to curbing systematic racism, we are standing back hoping and praying for a long needed change.

What is sad is that even with all this support, the system seemingly has no end in sight in giving our black brothers and sisters equality in our public zones or institutions and with no accountability in the horizon.

The American people have been played too many times, and our civilians are now are acting on their doubts, and are aiming for true racial equality, we are aiming for the day where black people can be at ease in having a mere encounter with law enforcement without being in fear of experiencing systematic racism.

After the news broke, Berner (@berner415) released a statement on his instagram page, and tactfully brushed off his losses, and shines the light back on the real problems at hand, he talks about having justice for George Floyd, as well as the countless other Black Americans who were murdered and taken from us.

Salute to Berner for seizing the moment and shining the attention torch not on his store, but on the actual issue at hand. #cookiesenterprises #blacklivesmatter #allbaymusic`

ABM What is your stage name? What inspired your stage name?

Lul Matt: I really didn’t even have to think about it. I was born with music in my blood so it just came naturally.

ABM: What is your story in terms of music, when did you start making music?

Lul Matt: I’ve been around music my whole life. I made my first song with my dad, (shoutout Matt Blaque) at 4 years old. Not only that, both sides of my family are talented musically. My mom’s side has many singers and so do my dads. So music was really always around me. Throughout my life I was making music off and on and then one day I actually started taking it seriously. I realized that I had potential in this industry so I wanted to give it a shot.

ABM: How did your upbringing in Northern California influence your career?

Lul Matt: Coming up in Northern California influenced me a lot. Being raised between the bay area and Sacramento was crucial to my musical influences. Just hearing the different sounds all around inspired me and what I wanted to sound like. Coming from Sacramento Ca I was listening to Mozzy of course and also being around the bay I was listening to legends like The Jacka, E-40, Berner, and of course whatever songs my dad was on.

ABM: Do you have any music visuals in the works?

Lul Matt: If we not working, we workin. Always planning and working on something new. Shooting a music video is just a little bit harder with everyone being in quarantine due to the virus. But trust me when I say I will be dropping new visuals all summer, I mean it. But check out my song on Thizzler called “Millionaire” featuring my Dad, Matt Blaque.

ABM: Do you have any other projects in the works?

Lul Matt: I am currently working on my first EP. This project has been in works for a while now and the vision I had for it is finally coming to life. I can’t say too much about it but just know it’s the first of many and everything we’re doing is billboard.

ABM: What inspired you to pursue being an artist professionally? Also, Tell us about your father and what role he played to inspire you.

Lul Matt: What inspired me to pursue becoming an artist professionally is the fact that I could make millions of dollars by doing what I love to do. I’m blessed enough to have access to a studio in my home so if I could sit at home all day in the studio and make millions, I don’t think there is another job that could do that for me. My dad is the reason I do music. Growing up and seeing him drop all these songs with influential artists like E-40, Philthy Rich, Mozzy, Too short, and so many others. It was always inspirational to see that.

ABM: Do you have any other lanes in music that interest you

Lul Matt: I want to learn it all. I already know how to produce, manage, engineer, so everything and anything music related whether that is behind the scenes or front and center.

ABM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

Lul Matt: 5 years from now I see myself performing all around the world. The sound that I am working on is something that I feel can reach millions and millions of people. Nothing will make me happier than to share my message and my music with the world.

ABM: Who are some of the musical influences that have inspired you?

Lul Matt: My biggest musical influences in the new age just to name a few would be travis scott, roddy ricch, and dababy.

ABM: Are there any artists you would like to work with in the future?

Lul Matt: There are many artists I would want to work with in the future. Starting with a upcoming bay area artist Maj4l. I would most definitely want to want to put something in motion with him. I would also like to work with Lil Mosey. I feel like our sounds together on a record would flow perfectly.

ABM: Are there any last words or shout outs?

Lul Matt: Shoutout anybody who supports me and what I do. Big shoutouts to Moms, Pops, Uncle Dan and My nana. I’m forever in debt with them for all they do for me. None of this would be possible without them so I’m grateful. I also want to shout out the gang, any event or appearance I have they are always there for that front and center so thank y’all for that.

Known for his bottomless street wisdom and deep spirituality, the Jacka was a unique figure in Hip-Hop. Five years after his death, the Jacka’s presence returns with Murder Weapon, a forthcoming posthumous release. The finished version of an album the Mob Figaz emcee was working on before his untimely passing, Murder Weapon fulfills the artist’s original vision, compiling dozens of unreleased verses and keeping the original instrumentals whenever possible. The upcoming album is a celebration of the Jacka’s life and career, completed by many of his artist friends and producers, including frequent collaborators like RobLo, Maki, DJ Child, Lev & AK.

“Jacka and I started working on this project before he passed,” explains the Jacka’s management. “He had already announced to the world that his next album would be titled Murder Weapon and that it would be his best body of work to date. The last album he dropped, What Happened To The World?, was originally meant to be a promotional lead-in to Murder Weapon, just like he released The Street Album just before Tear Gas.”

A testament to the Jacka’s enduring legacy, the album features verses from Husalah, Rydah J. Klyde, & FedX of the Mob Figaz, as well as appearances from a long list of hip-hop legends from all over the nation, including Freddie Gibbs, Curren$y, Berner, Styles P, Paul Wall, Killah Priest, Cormega, and more. Coming at the end of Jack History Month, Murder Weapon releases on February 28th via EMPIRE.

“Murder Weapon is a mixture of songs that were recorded specifically for the album and other great records that he recorded around the same time,” the Jacka’s management continues. “Some of the songs were fully done and others we completed by adding features from artists that he was close to or wanted to do music with. The goal was to finish the album as close to how he would have done it as possible.”

To accompany the announcement of the album, the Jacka’s team shares “Can’t Go Home,” a new collaboration with Freddie Gibbs. A soulful, and reflective track, aided by Maki’s twinkling production, “Can’t Go Home” showcases The Jacka’s conversational flow and appealingly raspy singing, as he reminisces on his early life and his life philosophy: “My people lookin’ at me, sayin’ ‘boy, you made it out!’/But I wasn’t happy ’til we all had the same amount/Pops locked crack’s the only thing can save us now/Mom’s hooked, but tough luck is what made my style.” In the second verse, Gibbs thunders through with his authoritative flow, bragging about his ability to remain true to the streets even amidst rising commercial success: “Since I touched the game, that sh*t ain’t been the same/They tryna freeze me out but they can’t kill the kane/Make a million every time I drop, so fuck the fame/I can put some young’ns on your bumper for a piece of change.”

“Jack has a huge vault of unreleased material that he recorded when he was alive,” says the Jacka’s management. “There’s a tremendous amount of unreleased Jacka music that hopefully will hit the streets over the next few years.”

Check out a wide-ranging retrospective on The Jacka’s life and legacy at KQE, and stay tuned for more announcements about Murder Weapon coming very soon.

It’s been a great start to a new 2020 for Cookies Boss Berner, who ended his 2019 out with the opening of two Cookies Cannabis Dispensaries, a “Cookies” cannabis store in Oakland, and one in his hometown of San Francisco called “Berners on Haight”, ending the decade with a huge bang.

Going into 2020 he has displayed two new openings out of state, one in Detroit with a grand opening of January 31st, and one in Baltimore, Maryland, which opened last week. The fans of Baltimore seem very happy with it’s opening, with one of the fans stating this Cookies opening being one of the best businesses to come to Baltimore!

It’s clear that Berner and his Cookies crew have truly taken over the cannabis game, and now are leading the way into the legal cannabis business nationally. It’s nice to see a local artist propel himself into corporate cannabis in this magnitude, we might as well consider Berner to be the ultimate drug lord turned legit businessman, something that many people before him failed to do, with many of them losing their lives to prison or death. Go Uncle Bern!!!

MIP to the Jacka, we wish the bull was here to witness how you truly seen it through!

ABM: What is your stage name?

HyroFBB: My stage name is HyroFBB, the FBB stands for “Fuck Being Broke”.

ABM: Where are you from, and what was it like growing up there?

HyroFBB: I was born in Antioch, CA and raised in Brentwood, CA. I’m from a Mexican community known as the Village, where a lot of my family and family friends are my neighbors. Growing up in my neighborhood was fun as hell as a kid. We be mobbin around on bikes, playin paper tag, skateboarding around the neighborhood and throwing lemons at the ice cream truck’s when it drove by, ah man we did some fucked up shit, haha but kids will be kids. I had hella friends and cousins around my age group and some older. I looked up to the older guys hanging out on the block and I got into a lot of trouble growing up. I didn’t make the best choices growing up, and if I can go back in time, I wouldn’t change a thing because those choices made me who I am today.

ABM: What are your last full length releases people can go check out right now?

HyroFBB: I recently released my album “Hyro$hima II”. The project is available on all Streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. “Hyro$hima II” is the second installment to my first album “Hyro$hima”. The “Hyro$hima” & “Hyro$hima II” projects are entirely produced and engineered by X-A-V Productions. You Can Also Find my 9-track LP “Bay Livin” on all music platforms. “Bay Livin’” is produced by Budda. I also have a new mixtape out called “FBB Vol.1” available on Soundcloud under my artist name “HyroFBB”.

ABM: What are you currently working on?

HyroFBB: I’m working on my 4th album which I am gonna call it “Hyro$hima Ground Zero”, which is the 3rd installment to the “Hyro$hima” series. I’ve been working tough on my music and music videos, trying to get more exposure by releasing them on YouTube and all major platforms. Thanks to the help from my cousin and producer X-A-V!

ABM: What’s your last visual release people can check out, tell us about it.

HyroFBB: My latest visual release is called “I Think I”. Its a single off of the Hyro$hima II album. This visual was a dope one to make, got a lot of energy from my homies in it and it’s a personal favorite off of the album. Unfortunately my latest visuals have all been filmed from my home because I’ve been on weak ass house arrest! But my cousin X-A-V Productions is a talented producer and always makes the best out of each visual we drop.

ABM: Is there any artists you would like to work with in the future?

HyroFBB: I have to say I’m a huge Bay Area rap fan, and to be honest Mac Dre (T.I.P.) & The Jacka(M.I.P.) would have been dope to work with, may they rest in peace. But I would like to work with Ya Boy aka Rich Rocka, he’s crazy with the flow. I would also like to work with Pay Roll Giovani from DoughBoyz Cashout, he’s fasho an inspiration. It’d be sick to collaborate with B-Legit, his flow is old school and real. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony had a huge impact on me growing up, I’d like to work with them. I would like to work with Berner, fuck around and make some real hustle music! Last but not least I would like to work with A-Wax! I’m all about the Bay music scene, and any artist who’s willing to work is a go for me.

ABM: Any business ventures you wanna tell the public about?

HyroFBB: I dream about opening up my own establishment, like a Clothing boutique/Barber-shop/Recording Studio. One day that dream will become reality, on mommas!

ABM: Where can people find you online?

HyroFBB: Follow My Instagram @Hyrofbb for the exclusive updates! As far as finding my music and videos you can simply search “HyroFBB” on all streaming platforms, YouTube and Soundcloud! Fuck with the kid!

ABM: Any last words?

HyroFBB: I just want to take this blessed opportunity to shout out those who support and influenced me to keep this rocking! X-A-V is my family, my producer and director and a major aspect in my music career. Shout out all my homies on that Vill Drive and all those before me, and most of all my huge family and homies who pushed me and looked out for the boy through it all! From the streets to jail and back home. I also cant forget my number one fan and my Bonnie, my girl Cynn. Also big Shouts to AllBayMusic for keeping it real and giving me inspiration. Its Fuck Being Broke Baby!
