GordonJohn

ABM: What is your Rap name? Tell us the story behind your hip-hop name?

GordonJohn: I go by GordonJohn, which is actually my real name. I want my music to be an accurate representation of my life and lifestyle. When I had to decide what name to go by, I knew nothing else could exemplify me better, than who I already am.

ABM: Has anything happened in your life that led to the decision of becoming a musician?

GordonJohn: I am a deeply routed fan of music. I have been exposed to a plethora of genres and styles. I have always felt a connection between the energy and emotion of a room or location, and the music and sounds of the environment around it. I think that everything that has happened in my life has pushed me in this direction.

ABM: How did you get your start in the hip hop scene?

GordonJohn: I was blessed enough to be featured on a song by Tay Off The Top of YHTM and G-TEAM from East Oakland with Lil C-Note. The song is entitled “Still Climbin’ “, representing our push to new levels in both the music scene and our own lives.

ABM: Where are you from?

GordonJohn: I am from Santa Clara, which is adjacent to San Jose in the South Bay. I was lucky enough to be raised in the suburbs, but have always had an association with many places through out the bay area, San Jose especially. I take a lot of pride in the push to being a spokesman for my city, as no one else is doing what I am doing at the same level as I am, and I debuted less than a year ago.

ABM: What do you typically rap about?

GordonJohn: I bring my words out from a unique perspective, bringing street hip-hop together with a lyrical and contemporary force. My education and relativity allows my music to speak for itself.

ABM: What are your last releases people can go check out right now?

GordonJohn: I just released five songs on The Thizzler within the last month and a half, which are all going to be on my upcoming album FREEMIND. These include features with some of the best doing it. Check out my most recent song, “What They Know’”, featuring San Jose’s own, Lazy-Boy.

ABM: What are you currently working on?

GordonJohn: I have a few projects that I am being featured on by some highly respected and talented, not to mention well-known, close friends of mine. I am also spending most of my efforts working on the finishing up my FREEMIND album, which is a demonstration of my newly founded company FREEMIND ENTERTAINMENT, or F.M.E., which I am the Owner/President of.

ABM: Whats your last visual release people can check out, tell us about it.

GordonJohn: You need to go check out my newest visual to the hit “Still Climbin’ “ by Tay Off The Top, featuring Lil C-Note and myself. It was directed by Lu Banks, who is handles all of my media artwork. It has cameos from my extended YHTM G-TEAM family such as Young Gully, Birch Boy Barie, A.B. of YH, and many more.

ABM: What is your ultimate goal at the end of your career?

GordonJohn: “I just got to see my family win, that’s really all I need, I’ve been focused on the come up, you can put your trust in me” – GordonJohn (Produced By De’La) “Level Up”

ABM: How can people reach you?

GordonJohn: The best way to stay in tuned with my latest movements, and get day-to-day updates is through my instagram, which is @gordonjohnmusic. All feature requests or business opportunities should be directed to my work email, which is gordonjohnmusic@yahoo.com. I am very approachable and am always open to opportunities for all of us to build and grow. All I ask is for you to show the same respect you expect reciprocated. Reach out, it’s all love.
