Buddah Mack

ABM: What is your stage name?

BuddahMack: My stage name is Buddah Mack.

ABM: Where are you from, and what was it like growing up there?

BuddahMack: I was born and raised in the city of San Francisco. But a city that still had the active housing projects, and neighborhoods where people knew everybody. It takes a village to raise a child, and Frisco was one hell of an upbringing.

ABM: What are your last full length releases people can go check out right now?

BuddahMack: Green is the latest album. I started working with a lot of the people that I had in the past, remembering that our Bay sound is something that so many more recent artist backed by corporate budgets have brought to the mainstream, but I wanted to remember and remind others where that sound originated.

ABM: What are you currently working on?

BuddahMack: My new project Im working is called “Property and Passports”. The album right now is my best work to date, and was fully recorded with K-Lou from K-Lou studios. I wanted to talk about the things that are important (long term) in life. Having a buzz or staying dripped are always important, but not on the same level as maybe taking advantage of the business opportunities we have present in California, like Cannabis Cultivation for instance, these are opportunities that have their roots right here in the Bay, and these opportunities can be for people that are really from the soil.

ABM: What’s your next visual you plan on releasing, tell us about it.

BuddahMack: Well in terms of music videos, I am actually working on making a music video for every track off my new album “Property and Passports”. I want my fans to take this journey with me. Remembering where I’ve been, knowing where I’m at as a artist, and focusing on where I’m going from here. I am happy about starting a new movement, to decide what I wanna show the rest of the world, they been looking for years when it comes to the Bay Area anyway.

ABM: Is there any artists you would like to work with in the future?

BuddahMack:   Not really, as of now not yet. But theres no shade there. I grew up on the Cougnut’s, the JT tha Bigga Figga’s, the RBL Posse’s. I was featured on Goldtoes classic album “17 Reasons”, which is part of my own legacy as an artist. Back then you had Richie Rich and 4Tay on tracks with 2Pac, so I wanted to work with the people in and from my community. Sh*t I used to sale GLP (Get Low Playaz) mixtapes back in the day, and we was gettin it. But now… it feels like it is more about the product and less about the person creating it. A lot of these cats rap about everything that NEVER happened to them (laughs). So it’s really easy to want to get down with a sound or vibe, but not so easy to rock with some of the people that create them. Game recognize game & real recognize real! I’m just saying.

ABM: Any business ventures you wanna tell the public about?

BuddahMack:  My brand is Buddah Mack and Mack Gang Music is a secondary venture I am working on. A project called, “Blood is Thicker Than Baywater” has been in the making for awhile. I have a large family both immediate and extended that are artists, editors, cameramen, entrepreneurs, real life boys in them streets… just a whole lot of smart and talented people. Putting the pieces together is always an obstacle when building something great. I mean how was Rome built? Brick by brick dear citizen, brick by brick. I plan on doing the same in the months and years ahead continue laying down a nice foundation for myself, brick by brick. I am also being featured in a movie called “Deep In It”. Lots of stuff in store for Buddah Mack for 2020.

ABM: Where can people find you online?

BuddahMack: I am on all digital platforms iTunes, Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, Amazon, SoundCloud, all of it! I would just ask for the people to take the time and check me out. A few moments out of your day to share all the blood sweat and tears I put into this narrative of my current journey called life. Frisco stand up!

ABM: Any last words?

BuddahMack: Man, you know the Buddah Mac that you are gonna hear, is not the same person, I have grown up! Shout out to All Bay Music Magazine. Make sure you grab that “Property and Passports” album, this is a special release and is my best work to date. Thanks to all my fans!
