Empire founder and CEO Ghazi Shami steps into a new creative lane, joining the Sundance documentary American Doctor as an executive producer 🎬
The project follows three American physicians who travel into Gaza to provide medical support during conflict, and has already made waves across major festival circuits including SXSW, CPH DOX, Hot Docs, and Thessaloniki, where it picked up audience and human rights recognition.
This move continues Empire’s growing partnership with Watermelon Pictures after their previous collaboration on Palestine 36, with plans to expand into soundtrack work and music licensing across future releases.
The film is now preparing for a North American theatrical rollout this summer alongside a full awards campaign push.
