ABM What is your stage name? What is your inspiration?
DaMans nDem: DaMans nDem, inspired by the movie house party
ABM: What is your story in terms of music, when did you start making music?
DaMans nDem: I have been doing music all my life, started rapping at about 4yrs old. My mom use to write for me and take me to auditions for labels.
ABM: How did your upbringing influence your career?
DaMans nDem: Growing up in a single parent home, with the best mom I could ask for, is what influenced all my topics and energy with music. My mom taught me to be ready and stay ready, because practice makes perfect while ensuring it pays off to be different and to stick with it, which explains my music in its’ totality; is what I believe.
ABM: Do you have any music visuals in the works?
DaMans nDem: I have released 2 videos pertaining to the album I am promoting now, which stand as the intro and outro.. With the project just recently being released, I have plans for a new video to carry on some promotion for the release.
ABM: How do you feel about the protests, and the black lives matter movement?
DaMans nDem: I feel like it was just a ticking time bomb with an unknown value of time of when it was set to go off, and it just exploded on us this year with George Floyd’s last breath.
ABM: Do you have any other projects in the works?
DaMans nDem: I’m currently in the process of finishing pt 2 of the project, I just released the self titled EP; “DaMansnDem.”
ABM: What inspired you to pursue being an artist professionally?
DaMans nDem: Not seeing or hearing the music I grew up on, which is the hiphop aspect of what we now call; “rap”.
ABM: Do you have any other lanes in music that interest you?
DaMans nDem: Well, maybe starting a video production company between me and my favorite camera man with story boards and theme based ideas to spit out more hip hop images in the video world.
ABM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
DaMans nDem: Touring and/or making a living off music projects and ideas that surround and support them like a t-shirt. Or even to make a living off of hip hop.
ABM: Who are some of the musical influences that have inspired you?
DaMans nDem: Locally, Tha Jacka, Keak da Sneak, J. Stalin and the whole LIVEWRE empire. Globally, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Redman Curren$y, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, OutKast , Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Wu-Tang Coan, DMX and Mystikal. I could go on and on, but basically all 90s stars gave great impression for me, overall.
ABM: Is there any artists you would like to work with in the future?
DaMans nDem: Yes, locally and globally artist like; JT the 4th, Earl Sweatshirt, Dom Kennedy , Curren$y, Griselda Records, and any New York MCee who willing to get down with me.
ABM: Is there any last words or shout outs?
DaMans nDem: “Why wait to be great.” This was a slogan my cuzzn left behind in the heat of his death; that we, the family, use for motivation.
