If anyone knows me, they’ll tell you that I’m like Simon Cowell when it comes to music. I mean, you REALLY must be talented to hold my ear… In fact, you got like 15 seconds… I met Jake Zimma, at The Grill Recording Studios in Emeryville, Ca. He was working with dual threat/engineer; Tayvon Carter and my good friend, and owner of The Grill, Lev Berlak. I was really impressed by his energy and the way he was playing the guitar.
But, when I heard him sing…., I was TRULY in awe. The “retro” style he incorporates, cast elements of rock, blues, soul, R&B, funk, jazz, reggae, hard rock, psychedelic, pop, folk, and a smidgen of hip hop. He reminded me of a young Lenny Kravitz.
Don’t take it from me tho, check him out yourselves. His song “On like 40” is gaining momentum, and has over ten thousands of views on one IG post alone. I’m looking forward to hearing more from him.
The outlook on this artist is definitely promising. His unique style and sound is fresh and soothing. If you’re looking for some “NEW DOPE”, Jake Zimma is lyrical elixir…
That said, I’ll step back the same way I came,
