We went to Sacramento's Oak Park and caught up with "Hus Mozzy", founder of Mozzy Clothing. We also got some good updates from Mozzy member "E Mozzy", as well. Check it out! Interview by @EuropeanIan and @DaJo415.
ABM: How did you get your name?
Hus Mozzy: First my friends gave me the name "Hus", because I was hustling everyday. Once that digested, bra and I came up with mozzarella, mozzarella became Mozzy. Meaning, money over everything, so I just kinda ran with Hus Mozzy after that.
ABM: When did you start with the clothing?
Hus Mozzy: I started last year, at first I did a song with Mozzy about 3 years ago back in 2011. I fell backwards on the music so I could start doing the business part and shit. Bra did the music, I said I'm gonna do the clothes, and fall back on the music.
ABM: It seems like you're pretty much running the brand at this point?
Hus Mozzy: Yeah, when we first started bra was rapping and I said Im gonna take the clothes part. We went half on the hustle and started going hard on that. I just started getting back into the studio last year.
ABM: How did LA go with Epic Records, and the French Montana situation?
Hus Mozzy: It was great, we was fuckin with it. We went to the studio, we heard "Wave God", and that was tight. It was really good for business man.
ABM: Lets talk about, Mozzy's "The Motive", who's this produced by?
Hus Mozzy: Its produced by a lot of people, mainly beats that Mozzy had. I know two of them are AK-47, Berner UK Beats.
ABM: What other projects are you pushing that are Hus Mozzy projects?
Hus Mozzy: Free the Gangbang, that concept is just all my guys sitting down and doing time from all the activities from robbin, popping, and really all kinds of shit. We have that dropping in about 45 days. A lot of solo tracks are on the album.
ABM: Any other projects we can be on the look out for?
Hus Mozzy: Mandatory Check, that drops May 12th, go get that one. There's also "Fuck the Law" 1 & 2, coming out also.
ABM: What new music videos are you working on?
Hus Mozzy: I want to shoot "Roll up" with Joe Blow, I got to call him and figure out a date to do that. E-Mozzy just dropped Big Tips, that thing's going crazy. We have hella shit everywhere, verses everywhere. We in the studio every day.
E Mozzy: Every OTHER day in the studio you mean. Bra we really be trappin we just be going with the flow, we in these streets still. If you don't see me on any songs or I'm not coming out with anything new, its because I really don't care you know. That means I'm out here in these streets you know. Today we have studio time, I mean we don't even need to be in the studio all day every day because all our stuff is dope.
ABM: How're the tour dates lining up?
Hus Mozzy: Right now, we have a show May 20th in MI, then we hit Oakland and Kansas City on the regular. We're always in LA and down in San Diego too.
E Mozzy: Man tell him whats really up man, there's a hold up on the touring because of the probation and shit and with all the booking and stuff. I mean there's a lot of dope stuff coming out, new records, new gear, bra has really been working hard. Its like blood flowing through your body man, we ain't stopping until we succeed you know.
ABM: How're you doing E-Mozzy? How's everything been going with you?
E Mozzy: You know Im still recovering, and I still have some issues, but come August 11th you all better be prepared because I'll be good! I have a lot of shit to talk about, a lot of great stuff dropping. I ain't worried about any of you guys, my money been piling up. Im still in the hood, and I ain't dealing with no fuckery bra. Y'all will have to take me out of the hood because I ain't leaving. This my shit.
