INTERVIEW BY @EUROPEANIAN
BM: What is your Rap name? Tell us the story behind your hip-hop name? Shaadie: My name comes from my
government name Rashaad. It’s pronounced Shaadic like “Shah-D” & not like “Shady.” My brothers KB &
Speedy start calling me Shaadie Boy as a kid, so when I started doing music I used the name everyone knew
me by. [also use the name Pen Norton as my writing moniker cuz I write hits & my team is the 49ers. ABM:
How did you get your start in the hip hop scene? Shaadie: I started rapping in middle school with my & friend J-Dub &
keep it lit from there. While living with my cousins Robert Jordan & Marshawn Lynch in college, all 3 of us took our
scholarship checks & got studio equipment for me to create music in our apartment. I did this along with school & track
until I decide to withdraw my full track & field scholarship at UC Berkeley in 2007 to focus more on pursuing music as a
career, ABM: Where are you from, and what was it like growing up there? Shaadie: I’m from 12 Hunnit Griffin Drive in
Crestside streets of North Vallejo, home of Mike “The Mac” Robinson & Andre “Mac Dre” Hicks. 1 grew up through
the mob music era to the Thizz & Hyphy movement so you can say it was fast, fun & frightening all at the same time.
ABM: What do you typically rap about? Shaadic: Rapality is what I rap about; the realities of life. I use a style I've
called “Trap-Hap” which is a fusion of the basic hip-hop clements of truth, realness & authenticity, with a rap flow &
trap vibe. I’m tryna sell carrots in candyland; so I have to coat my carrots in candy just for people to take a bite. ABM:
What are your last full length releases people can go check out right now? Shaadie: I have about 5 different projects that
are all available online via iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Soundcloud etc. by searching “Shaadic.” You can also find mix-
tapes EPK’s & videos on Youtube, DatPiff, Reverbnation & SonicBids. Google me! ABM: What are you currently work-
ing on? Shaadie: Right now I am currently working on a studio project w/ Pinnacle Recording Studios in Salt Lak
City, Utah. I am in the beginning stages of picking beats & writings so stay tuned for what’s to come because its gonna
come BIG, ABM: What's your last visual release people can check out, tell us about it. Shaadie: I just released a video
for a song called “Soft Spoken (from Vallejo).” This track was written by me after a close friend of mine was murdered
back home in The Crest. The song was produced by VaughnsBeats of Sacramento, CA & the video was shot in Las
Vegas by Kenny Frank owner of Moist Day Club. Feel free to search “Shaadie Vallejo” on YouTube to see the video &
subscribe to my channel for more. ABM: Any shout outs? Shaadie: Shout out to my wife, my kids & all of my family
from the Bay Area, to Georgia, to North Carolina & all the way to the Caribbean. Much love & thanks to Ian & Dub Da
Mac for making these connections. Much love & thanks to all my fans, supporters & everyone who have given a kind
word, a helping hand or sent a positive vibe my way. ABM: How can people reach you? Shaadie: I am very casy to find.
